Person Profile

This is not a traditional HR or Administration role. A key competency is to be a collaborative team member and value the collective ability of teams rather than traditional hierarchies. The other main focus is on nurturing staff professional learning and growth. The person appointed will play a key role in leading all aspects of human resources and administration: as such, he/she should possess excellent leadership experience/potential and skills and should have a diverse range of qualities and competencies. The successful candidate will also play a major role in whole school leadership and will attend the whole school leadership team meetings.

The Head of Human Resources and Administration should be a caring, inspirational, passionate, adaptable, creative and innovative leader. He/She should be an outstanding motivator, learner, administrator and communicator, with excellent interpersonal skills, and should be capable of leading school development and supporting staff through a caring, stimulating, and well-organised environment. He/She should be able to provide leadership to ensure improved professional standards of human resources and administration, whilst always maintaining a focus on improving staff and student learning.

1.        Knowledge and Skills. He/She should:

  • be aligned with the ISL values of diversity, passion, identity and understanding
  • possess excellent communication and collaborative skills
  • have a record of achievement in leadership in the services sector, preferably with experience of the international education environment
  • be able to lead, manage, and develop an expanding school and in particular help to develop team spirit in human resources and administration
  • be able to provide support and guidance for members of human resources and administration teams
  • be able to create and lead appropriate learning opportunities for all staff
  • have experience of implementing major new projects and leading collaborative change in international organisations
  • be innovative and creative in applying current research as to how staff learn and develop best
  • have extensive experience of international human resources approaches and be innovative and creative in applying them in practice
  • have an innovative and creative approach to international leadership, based on best current practice
  • have an excellent command of spoken and written English & Arabic is a must.

 

2.       Responsibilities. He/She will be responsible for:

  • fostering the values, dispositions, behaviors, attitudes and attributes of the ISL Saudi guiding statements
  • ensuring that excellent learning opportunities are offered for culturally diverse staff, with a variety of learning needs and styles
  • the design, development, implementation and review of the human resources policy documents and strategic plans, in conjunction with the school leadership team
  • the design, development, implementation and review of professional learning procedures for staff across the school
  • the design, development, implementation and review of recruitment procedures for staff across the school, in particular, contributing to new staff induction, training and retention, recruitment procedures (sponsorship, visas, work permits), and the smooth transition and on-going support for new staff
  • the school-provided accommodation, in particular finding and preparing new staff accommodation, liaising with the facilities assistant and HR team on all matters related to school accommodation
  • the design, development, implementation and review of assessment and reporting systems for human resources and administration staff, in conjunction with the school leadership team
  • the day to day running of the human resources and administration department
  • the leadership of the budget process for human resources and administration, in particular overseeing the ordering, maintenance, inventory, record-keeping and advice on resources and equipment, including publications, furniture, hardware, software and facilities
  • holding regular termly review meetings with staff to evaluate the effectiveness of human resources and administration
  • in conjunction with the leadership team, attending regular review meetings to identify and discuss staff requiring support
  • complying with local labor regulations
  • having an overall responsibility for the school administrative systems and procedures including but not limited to front office support services, maintenance and facilities, bussing, catering, security, Supreme Education Council
  • with support from the HR assistant, managing school visitors travel arrangements and logistics
  • maintaining records on individual staff members and groups of staff, monitoring their overall progress
  • supporting staff in designing and maintaining professional portfolios (hardcopy and electronic)
  • fostering a positive attitude between human resources, the administration and the wider community
  • the enhancement of the professional standing of the human resources and administration staff
  • contributing to Whole School Leadership meetings
  • maintaining and ensuring confidentiality throughout all processes and communication
  • ensuring the human resources and administration sections of the handbooks are kept current.

– At least ( 15 years plus experience)
– Experienced in a multi international company is preferred
